The new Outdoor Education class is under way! This course not only takes full advantage of the outdoor recreation opportunities in the Northwoods, but also fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and a deeper appreciation for the environment!!

Already, students have been hard at work learning essential survival skills such as building campfires, constructing emergency shelters, practicing knot tying, and learning about tree identification and natural medicines. The next unit focuses on camping which will prepare them for their first camping trip later this fall!

Mercer School Families;

We’re excited to share that our school will now be using Rooms as our main two-way communication tool! This will help simplify communication by keeping messages from teachers, coaches, and the school all in one place.

The great news is that Rooms is part of the app you already know and use, so there’s no need to download anything new. You’ll be able to receive updates, ask questions, and stay connected to your child’s learning and activities more easily than ever.

Our goal is to ensure clear, consistent, and convenient communication for families. We’re looking forward to connecting with you through Rooms!

Forest's dad works for Xcel Energy. He couldn't make it but some of his co-workers came to the school and taught us about safety if a power line is on the ground... we don't touch it and we tell a grown up so Xcel can come fix it! They showed us their equipment and how they use the buckets on their trucks to fix the power lines. They gave us coloring sheets and maze games! A big THANK YOU to Xcel Energy! Xcel Energy helps our community!

During our unit on Community Helpers, we had a field trip to Around the Corner Pub where Lylah's mom works as a waitress and bartender. She told us about how she helps people order food and drinks. We took turns looking at the kitchen where the food is cooked, we had pizza for lunch and Lylah's dad let each student use the claw machine to get a ducky! A big thank you to the couple at the Pub who paid for our pizza!

The 4K and Kindergarten classes collected fall leaves from around the school. We found red, orange and yellow leaves. Earlier we read books about how trees stop making chlorophyll when there is not as much sunshine and the leaves loose their green color.
