Teacher, 7-12 Science Email Phone: (715)388-8291 Mercer Families,
The start of this school year has been both wonderful and challenging but working with your students always makes the challenges worth it!
Some highlights of the year so far:
-
Including a more inquiry based chemistry and physical science curriculum. This focuses on more hands-on labs and knowledge challenges rather than standard notes and memorization. This gives students a deeper understanding of content for longer amounts of time.
-
7th and 8th graders have been working with the Iron County Forestry Department - Woods and Water Project to understand more of the surrounding environment. Iron County has such a unique environment with so much to see! Some of these trips have been highlighted in the Mercer Memos by Mrs. McMurray.
-
Forensic science has been “secretly” covering many science standards (patterns, cause and effect, scale portion and quality, system models, etc) through analysis of crime, peaking interest and focus from the students.
Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season! I am looking forward to 2024!!
Mrs. Engler
