First, Two Rules of Photography:
There are two rules of photography you should think about as you take pictures for the photography unit: Rule of Thirds and Focal Point.
Rule of Thirds:
Divide your camera into nine equal parts, like this:
It's important to get in the habit of imagining these lines as you aim your phone or camera at what you're going to photograph. You want to put the focal point somewhere in one of the nine boxes, and where you locate the focal point in the rule of thirds helps with how interesting a photo you take.

Focal Point
The focal point is where the eye is drawn when looking at your photograph. For instance, in the photo below, where is your eye drawn?
Did you say the tent? If so, then you're right.
Something to think about as you take your picture: "Where do I want my viewer's eye to land first when he or she looks at my picture?" That's your focal point.
Hopefully, as you share the pictures you take for this unit, we'll be able to tell where your focal point is. If we can't, you might have to try again.
