PUBLIC COMMENT:  Jim Hannemann said the building project presentation was very good and asked to have projected student enrollment for the next 20 years. He also said he appreciates the patriotism of all of the students and staff at Mercer School and he appreciates that the Pledge of Allegiance is said every day by our students and staff. He then wanted to know if we have a policy in regards to students who do not stand and hold their hand on their hearts for the pledge. If we do not have a policy in place he thinks we should have one. Mr. Torkelson told Mr. Hannemann that he is happy to report all of our students and staff are very respectful of the flag and the pledge. Even our students who are visiting from another country do stand in respect of our flag. Then Mr. Torkelson said if we did have a student who refused to stand and show proper respect for the flag he would make sure that student had an alternate place to go during the time of the Pledge of Allegiance.  Deanna then encouraged anyone who is a Veteran or knows of a Veteran from Mercer to bring a picture in for the Mercer School Veterans Wall of Hero’s. Bill Brundage stood up and encouraged the board to pursue legal action against the person or persons who were responsible for the slanderous email that was circulated about Mercer School, staff members and students.

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Noel Brandt, seconded by Micki Pierce-Holmstrom to adjourn the meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 6:33 p.m.
