Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting

CALL TO ORDER:  The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Board President, Bob Davis.

 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Bob Davis, Jim Hannemann, Sue Loth, Micki Holmstrom and Jeff Nehring attended via phone.

 

OTHER PERSONS PRESENT:  Interim District Administrator, Sheri Kopka, Bookkeeper, Tricia Thompson, Dick & Ginny Kemplin, Kathy Hannemann,Robyn Schoeneman, Nancy Lundquist, Amanda Kopka, Bill Gust, Dick Hassburg, Nancy Lundquist, Dorothy Bangle, Mark Higby, Doris and Tom Marsel, Tom Zeigler, Tomand Cappy Handattan, Shirley Kessler, Dee Wells, Deb Patton, Sue Benzel, Adam Miller, Sue and Rich Pegg, Deanna Huybrecht, Norb Brossmer, Brian Jopek from the Lakeland Times and Ricky Kelly from the Iron County Miner. 

 

ADJUSTMENTS TO THE AGENDA:  Motion by Jim Hannemann, seconded by Jeff Nehring for Adjustment to agenda for closed session reasons:  19.85 (f)

Considering financial, medical, social or personal histories or disciplinary data of specific persons, preliminary consideration of specific personnel problems or the investigation of charges against specific persons except where par.  HYPERLINK "https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/document/statutes/19.85(1)(b)" \o "Statutes 19.85(1)(b)" \t "_blank" (b) applies which, if discussed in public, would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect upon the reputation of any person referred to in such histories or data, or involved in such problems or investigations, as it may relate to recent events at the school. All ayes, motion carried 5-0.

APPROVAL OF BOARD MEETING MINUTES:  Motion by Jim Hannemann, seconded by Sue Loth to approve the Regular Board Meeting Minutes from Monday, October 28, 2019 as presented.  All ayes, motion carried 5-0.

 

APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT:  Motion by Micki Holmstrom, seconded by Jeff Nehring to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented.  Roll call vote, all ayes, motion carried 5-0.

 

APPROVAL OF DISTRICT PAYMENTS:  Motion by Sue Loth, seconded by Jim Hannemann to approve vouchers 59731 thru 59857 (general account) and 11395 thru 11398 (activity account) in the amount of $ 105,843.00.  Roll call vote, all ayes, motion carried 5-0.

 

ACTION ITEMS:

Motion by Jeff Nehring, seconded by Jim Hannemann to approve Technical Changes to Policy numbers: po0165.1 (Regular Meeting), po7434 (Use of Tobacco on School Premises) and po9600 (Staff/Student Participation in Community Events). All ayes, motion carried 5-0.

 

Motion by Sue Loth, seconded by Micki Holmstrom to approve the second reading of Policy number po5112 (Entrance Age). All ayes, motion carried 5-0.

 

Motion by Jeff Nehring, seconded by Sue Loth to approve first reading of policy numbers with blow mentioned changes. After discussion of all policies all ayes, motion carried 5-0

CHANGE DECEMBER BOARD MEETING DATE:  Motion by Jim Hannemann, seconded by Jeff Nehring to change the Regular December School Board meeting date from the 4th Monday, December 23, 2019 to the 3rd Monday of the month December 16, 2019. All ayes, motion carried 5-0.

 

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION:  Motion by Jeff Nehring, seconded by Sue Loth to convene into closed session Pursuant to:

§19.85(1)(c), Wis. Stats., to confer with legal counsel to consider employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. Specifically, to discuss administrator leave status, and to potentially take action regarding same. 

 

Pursuant to §19.85(1)(g), Wis. Stats., to confer with legal counsel for the governmental body who is rendering oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted by the body with respect to litigation in which it is or is likely to become involved, and to potentially take action regarding same. Specifically, to discuss the status of compliance relative to District Special Education Program previous findings from the DPI.

RECONVENE TO OPEN SESSION:  Motion by Micki Holmstrom, seconded by Sue Loth to return to open session, All ayes, motion carried 5-0. Returned to open session at 8:00 p.m.
