Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting

Mercer School District

 

CALL TO ORDER:  The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Board President, Deanna Pierpont.

 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Deanna Pierpont, Kelly Kohegyi, Micki Pierce-Holmstrom, Christa Reinert with Noel Brandt arriving at 5:02.

 

OTHER PERSONS PRESENT:  District Administrator, Erik Torkelson, Business Manager, Lori Boltz, Jim & Kathy Hanneman, Doris and Tom Marsel, Hedda Patzke, Pat Moses, Rick Duley, Adam Kussard, Natalie Allen, Denise Thompson, Bruce Zimmerman, Sharon Drawz, Billie Botes, Dick & Ginny Kemplin, Adam Miller, Rebby Spagnuolo, Haley Allen, Jessica Klopatek, Aubrey Schoeneman, Brent Wambold, Sheri Kopka, Mark Benson, Kathy Tutt, Ed Alvey Sr., Mary Ann Sabec, Ernie Moore from the Iron County Miner & Doug Kaiser from the FYI Newspaper. 

 

APPROVAL OF BOARD MEETING MINUTES:  Motion by Micki Pierce-Holmstrom, seconded by Christa Reinert to approve the Regular Board Meeting Minutes from Monday, February 27, 2017 as presented.  Roll call vote, all ayes, motion carried 4-0.

 

Noel Brandt arrived at this time.

 

APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT:  Motion by Christa Reinert, seconded by Kelly Kohegyi to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented.  Roll call vote, all ayes, motion carried 5-0.

 

APPROVAL OF DISTRICT PAYMENTS:  Motion by Kelly Kohegyi, seconded by Noel Brandt to approve vouchers 56630 thru 56706 (general account) and 10748 thru 10774 (activity account) in the amount of $ 96,761.44  Roll call vote, all ayes, motion carried 5-0.

 

ACTION ITEMS:  Motion by Kelly Kohegyi, seconded by Micki Pierce-Holmstrom to approve the 2017-18 school calendar as presented.  Roll call vote, all ayes, motion carried 5-0.

 

Motion by Kelly Kohegyi, seconded by Micki Pierce-Holmstrom to approve Policy #0131.1 Policy Adoption policy.  Roll call vote, Noel Brandt-yes, Deanna Pierpont-yes, Chirsta Reinert-no, Micki Pierce-Holmstrom-yes and Kelly Kohegyi-yes.  Motion carried 4-1.

 

Micki Pierce Holmstrom left at this time to attend her daughters fund raiser dinner.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT:  Hedda Patzke questioned if the school calendar coincides with Minocqua schools with the days and hours of instruction.  She was informed that yes we do.  She also stated that she does not think that asking about the athletics is micromanaging.

 

Denise Thompson thanked everyone for attending the Spagetti Dinner on March 19th for a track fundraiser.  They made over 1,200 dollars and Scott Walberg will be matching the fundraiser up to $1,000.00.

 

Deanna asked for public comment three more times, no more public comment.

 

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Noel Brandt, seconded by Kelly Kohegyi to adjourn the meeting.  All ayes, motion carried 4-0.
