Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting

 

Monday, December 19, 2016

 

Mercer School District

 

CALL TO ORDER:  The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Board President, Deanna Pierpont.

 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Deanna Pierpont, Christa Reinert, Kelly Kohegyi, Micki Pierce-Holmstrom, with Noel Brandt absent with permission.

 

OTHER PERSONS PRESENT:  District Administrator, Erik Torkelson, Business Manager, Lori Boltz, Jim & Kathy Hanneman, Denise Thompson, Bill Gust, Doris and Tom Marsel, Karl Anderson, Hedda Patzke, Bill and Joyce Brundage, Terrance Maerz and Eunica Kratochvil, Nancy Lundquist, Mike Lambert, Tricia Thompson, Gary Schlais, & Doug Kaiser from the FYI Newspaper.

 

APPROVAL OF BOARD MEETING MINUTES:  Motion by Kelly Kohegyi, seconded by Micki Pierce-Holmstrom to approve the Regular Board Meeting Minutes from Monday, November 28, 2016 as presented.  Roll call vote, all ayes, motion carried 4-0.

 

APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT:  Motion by Micki Pierce-Holmstrom, seconded by Christa Reinert to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented.  Roll call vote, all ayes, motion carried 4-0.

 

APPROVAL OF DISTRICT PAYMENTS:  Motion by Kelly Kohegyi, seconded by Micki Pierce-Holmstrom to approve vouchers 56327 thru 56424 (general account) and 10683 thru 10700 (activity account) in the amount of $ 141,929.87.  Roll call vote, all ayes, motion carried 4-0.

 

At this time Mr. Torkelson and the Board recognized Eunica Kratochvil and Terrance Maerz, owners of Beaver Lodge with a gift of appreciation for all their donations to our school.

 

Mr. Torkelson reported on the Best of 2016 in both academics and athletics in his administrative report.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT:  Hedda Patzke questioned the policy procedure, if she was a minority how it would work.  Mr. Torkelson explained the best practices is to have the entire board involved in the discussion on policy procedures.  

 

Nancy Lundquist complimented Mr. Reed on the Christmas concert, said it was fabulous and one of the best concerts she has seen.

 

Board President, Deanna Pierpont asked for any more public discussion three times, no more public discussion.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Kelly Kohegyi, seconded by Christa Reinert to adjourn the meeting.  All ayes, motion carried 4-0.

 

Meeting adjourned at 5:38 p.m.
